Dear Friend,
Please take a few minutes to read this letter. You can also request a copy of our promotional DVD via email on the contacts page. We would like you and your organisation to be part of this unique event, which will profile the very best of an international link from Merseyside to the rest of Europe.
In June 2006, as part of the European Capital of Culture 2008's year of Performance, 14 lads from Merseyside are undertaking a triathlon to raise £1 million for charity. The charities include:
Stick 'n' Step - (educating youngsters with Cerebral Palsy)
Liverpool Heartbeat - (supporting regional youth and community projects)
British Heart Foundation - (a national organisation involved in all health & heart related issues)
Water Aid - (an international charity involved in raising awareness of water issues and supporting projects throughout the world)
The lads, who are all local lads from ordinary backgrounds, are going to cycle from John O'Groats to Lands End, swim the English Channel and then run from Calais to Brussels.
The lads want to take the hand of friendship from Liverpool to all the communities they travel through, from John O'Groats to Brussels. At key schools en route they will promote healthy lifestyle and making a positive contribution through the tri-4-life roadshow. The team will work with local councils and health promotion teams to promote the benefits of exercise and healthy eating. They will encourage all young people that they meet to follow their example of making a positive contribution to their local community.
We hope that you think this event is worthy of your support. We would like you to participate in tri-4-life by doing your own sponsored event, or even better, getting friends and colleagues to join in your event. We want to raise money for tri-4-life, but want you to enjoy it and have a good time being part of the magic!
We already have a lot of interest and support from Liverpool FC (community team) and the Capital of Culture team. Many sporting personalities have endorsed the event, including Liverpool's Olympic swimmer Steve Parry. In return for your support, we are willing to promote your company/organisation through our own literature and on our website, or by putting your logo on the support vehicles.
Please help this excellent Merseyside event and tell your friends and other organisations that may be able to help. We want to show the UK and Europe what a great place our city is as we take the hand of friendship from John O'Groats to Brussels. If you require more information contact the event director Liam Hanlon through the contacts page. Sponsor forms for your own event can be seen below.
If you would like to make a donation direct to tri-4-life you can do so at any HSBC bank payable to tri-4-life European Challenge 2006, account number 90006424.
Many thanks for your help - live the dream!
